Google SMS

Google launched 'Google SMS' for mobile users in India. 'Google SMS' beta makes information available on the move, removing the need for a computer or an Internet-enabled mobile phone.

With 'Google SMS' mobile messaging service, users can get business listings, movie show timings simply by sending a text message to the shortcode 54664 [5GOOG] from their mobile phones. A user seeking information on pizza in connaught place (Delhi) can text message (pizza connaught place delhi) to 54664, and a list of pizza restaurants in that area will automatically be delivered to his or her phone within seconds.

'Google SMS' displays results by nearness to specified locales. The service saves a user's location, thus doing away with the need to type the location every time a user wants to search. This service is available for Airtel, Aircel, BPL, BSNL, and Reliance subscribers. The service has on offer relevant local data for mobile users based out of Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.
