Nokia Ties Up with Content Partners

Nokia joined hands with content partners like CNN, IBN News, Sony Pictures, Roof Top Comedy, Jambo, Versaly Entertainment and ROK to bring content varying from entertainment to comedy to news right on Nokia N-Series handsets equipped with a Video Center. Indian users can now get news updates from CNN IBN straight on to their N Series device enabled with a Video Centre without any extra charge.

Wi-Fi @ Rs 99

Airtel Broadband & Telephone Services has launched a Wi-Fi service for its customers in South India. Customers will get to access the wireless at 2 mbps speed for a monthly rental rate of Rs. 99.

Better Connectivity for Delhi, Mumbai GSM Users

Mobile phone users in Delhi and Mumbai may soon get over the problems of call drops, busy networks and poor connectivity. The two largest operators in the two cities, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Essar, may get extra spectrum for Delhi and Mumbai under the existing subscriber-base norms.

The "Father of African Telecom" Died

Miko Alexis Rwayitare, known as the "father" of African telecoms died last week, in Belgium. Miko is known as the father of telecommunications having been credited with making the first mobile call in Africa in 1987 and subsequently building various successful mobile networks.
